Memorial Day Beach Trip!

This weekend was my first trip to the beach!!!  On Thursday after I got home from daycare, Mommy and Daddy packed up the car and we drove for such a long time I fell asleep in the car.  When I woke up we were in a different place and I was getting put to bed.  Finally, morning came and it was time for me to see the beach! Mommy and Daddy took me for a walk down to the beach.  The waves in the ocean were loud, so I kept humming so that it wouldn't scare me.  I had never seen anything like it before, and when the water splashed up it was COLD, nothing like my baths!!
After a walk on the beach, I went back inside and got dressed in my swimming suit.  I had to put sunscreen all over my skin so that the sun wouldn't burn me before we left.  But finally, we went down to the beach.  It was really windy...Daddy tried to set up my tent but it was too windy for it.  Then, the umbrella turned inside out, so there was no shady place for me to sit.  So, we had to go to the swimming pool.  It was okay though because I got to go swimming in my new bathing suit!  Mommy and Daddy were nice to hold me in the water - I had a GREAT time and wasn't scared at all!  After a big first day at the beach, I was tuckered out so I slept well.






We woke up the next day and got ready to go to the beach again!!  It wasn't nearly as windy, so Daddy was able to set up my tent for me and I could enjoy sitting on the beach.  I was leery of all this sand around me to I didn't touch it very much.  I stuck my feet into it and pushed it around but it wasn't as fun as playing with my toys so I stayed cool in the shade, watched the ocean, and the occasional four-wheeler drive by with a lifeguard on it.  When Mommy took me down towards the water, it still felt really cold, but I was starting to get used to the noise, so I didn't have to hum so much any more.
On Sunday, we went to the beach AGAIN!  Mommy and Daddy must really like to relax on the beach.  I know that I enjoy being outdoors and playing by the water!  Today I got a little more adventuresome and started to grab sand with my hands and let it slip out between my fingers!  It was fun getting sand everywhere! After my nap, Mommy dressed me in my bathing suit to take a dip in the swimming pool one last time.  I had fun the second time, but the water in the pool was a little chilly so we didn't stay in the pool very long.  
On Monday, it was Memorial Day!  To remember all of the service men and women who have fought to make America a great place, we had the day off.  After we woke up in the morning, we packed up and drove home...Im really going to miss the beach because I had such a great time, but I know that next time it will be so much fun because I will get to go swimming and dig in the sand!  I had a GREAT weekend at the beach!!!

Strawberry Pickin'

Today we went to Vollmer Farm to pick strawberries.  I had a great time!  We woke up like normal this morning, and after breakfast we drove out into the country.  It was nice weather, not too hot but warm and sunny.  I helped Mommy pick berries, although I wish I could have picked some myself and mashed them up in my fingers.  I also have trouble eating solid foods with my hands still so I was't allowed to have any to try.  I wish I could have though because Mommy and Daddy both said they were delicious; gently warmed by the sun.  After we picked berries, we got some ice cream, so Mommy and Daddy let me try some of that.  I'm not used to having cold foods in my mouth so I didn't like it very much.  I've also been very fussy recently because I think I have another tooth breaking through my gums.  Although I act like myself when I'm playing I DO NOT want to drink my bottle or eat any food because it doesn't feel good!  I hope it improves so that I can have fun on our beach trip coming up next weekend!

A Big Weekend!

On Saturday morning I woke up to a surprise (even though I had trouble sleeping during the night)!  My Mimi and Papa had come to visit!  We had such a good time together.  I showed them how I could crawl everywhere, stand up, walk around, practice new words, smile, and patty cake!  Papa loves to take pictures, so he was taking a lot of pictures.  I did my best to pose for them, but I got so excited I couldn't hold still.
Even though Mommy and Daddy went out on Saturday night, I did my best to behave for Mimi and Papa, and I think I did a good job.  They were great babysitters! I went right to sleep after Mimi fed me, so that I could rest for more playing on Sunday.  After lots of hugs and playing to my heart's content, I was totally worn out by the end of the weekend!

My First Baseball Game!

Tonight I went with Mommy and Daddy to my first baseball game to see the Durham Bulls play!  It was a beautiful day and I had such a good time cheering.  Mommy said that technically this is my 3rd time at a game, but I couldn't see very well those other times so they don't count if you ask me. As we were leaving the game so I could get to bed, a big blue monster came to say hello to me!  I was mesmerized by this big furry creature, but I'm very brave and I didn't cry! Overall I had a great time at my first game, and I hope I get to go to another one before the end of the summer!!

On the Move

For Easter, Mommy and Daddy got me this neat car that I have started to play with.  I can sit on it, push it around, play with the colorful things on it, and use it to practice standing.  It's fun when Mommy pushes me around the house on it!  Hopefully soon I can figure out how to push myself using my legs!

I've also been practicing with feeding myself.  Before I eat dinner, Mommy puts this yummy puffed cereal on my tray and I started to figure out how to use my hand to get it off the tray and into my mouth.  I can do it much more easily with my right hand...when I use my left I always seem to miss my mouth!  Sometimes I like to munch on the cereal between my front teeth, but the rest of the time I do a pretty good job chewing it up in my mouth without gagging on it.  Tonight when I was getting ready for bed, Daddy was singing to me.  I really liked it and I hope that I get more songs before bed - that way I won't be as fussy.
