My First Reconciliation

I have been working hard at Faith Formation, learning new prayers and understanding how my sins are forgiven by God. One Saturday, Dad and I went to a workshop to learn about how to do penance. We did some crafts including making a sheep that we would use to show our first reconciliation. This Saturday, we had the ceremony for my first reconciliation. After a short mass, I waited my turn to go into the confessional and do penance. When I got in there I told the priest one sin. I was a little nervous about it, but I came out smiling, knowing my sins had been forgiven and that it wasn't hard at all. After doing penance, I took the sheep that I made (it had lost it's way) and returned it to the pasture with the other sheep. Then, Dad put a special pin on me and I was done!
To celebrate this accomplishment, we went to a restaurant that evening called Khanki. It was a Japanese Hibachi place where the chef's cook the food right in front of you! Highlights from the dinner were watching the chef make a volcano in an onion and make lava spew out of it! I also liked when he would make huge hot flames! Whoa!!! I even got to try fried rice (my friend Kaori brings it for lunch and I've always wanted to try it). It was a fun way to spend our evening!

From the Snow to the Beach

We thought we had returned to normalcy after the first week of school delays, early releases and cancellations, but Mother Nature wasn't done quite yet. No sooner had the MLK Jr day holiday ended, the days off continued. Wednesday, school was cancelled. We didn't wake up to snow, but mid morning through the night it snowed and snowed. In total we got 7" of pure snow fun. We built a snowman, made snowballs, and made footprints across the entire back yard. There was so much snow, even our Saturday make up day was cancelled. Crazy enough, on Sunday we went for a walk on the greenway to the "beach" under the bridge and played there in balmy 70 degrees. Then when we came home, we played in the snow pile still left by our driveway. Definitely lots of fun, but I guess we eventually have to go to school.
This month I was recognized for having excellent character traits, most specifically self-discipline. In recognition of this, my picture is up on a bulletin board by the front office! Mom and Dad are really proud of me for always working hard and doing my best at school!

Baby It's Cold Outside

It was a slow start back to school the first week of 2018 and one week in, we have yet to have a full day of school. The first day back was delayed two hours, then the next day we left 2 hours early anticipating winter weather. Some winter weather came, but not much. It was mostly cold and a dusting of snow. We got to play outside on our first snow day, but then most of the snow blew away and by the second "snow" day there was no snow. Just cold. Record breaking cold. 174 hours below freezing! I took the opportunity to catch up on some school work (I am making a timeline as a class project) and do lots of puzzles. I love puzzles!
Check out my first class project completed!

Happy 2018!

It's the new year! We finished 2017 strong with a visit from Mimi and Papa. The day they arrived, we went to see a beautiful Christmas light display at Hillridge Farm! We braved the cold weather on a hay ride through all the lights and enjoyed some fun farm activities like the bouncy pillow, gigantic slide and some fun swings. Luckily there were big fires for us to warm up by so that we didn't get too cold. The weather was cold so the next few days we stayed in and got to enjoy all our new Christmas toys with Mimi and Papa although we did make it outside to the park for a bit. Because it was cold, we decided to go roller skating! What a fun way to end their visit! Even Dad laced up a pair of skates and joined us. A great way to start a new year, is to end on a great note! I'm excited to get back to school and see all my friends! Go 2018!
