I Hear with My Ears

School is going great! Everyday I tell Mommy and Daddy what I had for snack (we have lots of new foods for snacks) and the new LetterLand letters that I have learned at school. So far I have had nothing but 3's on my behavior report (3 means I gave my best that day). It must have to do with my great attitude that that I'm a really great listener! I really love music class when we get to go. When I get home I like to practice my songs on the piano, only after I get my icicle pop!!

A Visit from Mimi and Papa

The first thing I did when Mimi and Papa arrived was play my new songs on the piano!
During the break between my staggered entry day and my first full day of kindergarten, Mimi and Papa came to see us! I was so occupied with kindergarten I didn't have time to blog about what a fun time we had. As always when they visit, we were busy with lots of fun activities. Before they even arrived on Thursday, we went to the observation deck at the airport to watch for their plane to land. Once it landed, we went to pick them up at the terminal. It was really hot out that day so we decided to go swimming in the afternoon. I got to show Mimi and Papa how much I have improved with my swimming! They were impressed!

The next day we spent the day at the Museum of Life and Sciences in Durham. Even though it was hot, it didn't stop us from having a great day exploring the dinosaurs, driving sailboats, running around in the mist, visiting the butterflies and playing in a few of the exhibits inside. While we were in the butterfly house a butterfly landed on my leg! I wasn't too thrilled with how that felt so Mommy put it in her hand so we could examine it's colors. Our picnic lunch was fun because we walked to the picnic dome where our voices echoed loudly. Adam and I pretended to be wolves and were howling up into the dome! We finished our day at the museum with a ride on the train! I was exhausted by the end of our visit but it was good practice to get me ready for a whole day of kindergarten.

On Saturday morning we went blueberry and blackberry picking. It was really hot, but since there were so many of us picking we were able to get lots of berries really quickly. Mimi and I worked together picking. When her basket filled up a little ways, she would dump them into my bucket to carry. It was hard for me to pick because most of the good berries were at the top of the bushes. While Daddy was picking blackberries he found some baby birds nestled in one of the bushes. That was cool to see! Later in the day, Mommy and Daddy went on a date so we got to spend time with Mimi and Papa. They spent a lot of time reading with me since I'll have to start reading in kindergarten!

We had so much fun the first part of their visit, we needed a few days to recover so I wouldn't be too tired for my first day of kindergarten!

Class is in Session!

Although my first day of kindergarten was last week, today marked the first day that EVERYBODY in my class was there. My day went well, although I am so exhausted I can't even remember what I did all day long. I told Mom I would prefer to go back to preschool where the day isn't as long - I don't know how Daddy can go to work all day! The bus took me home today - it was interesting being on the bus with all the kids. Mommy and Adam were waiting for me at my bus stop so I jumped off the bus to give Mommy a hug. Maybe I shouldn't have told Mommy that I really enjoyed the chocolate milk I bought for lunch….

Check out the pizza box I decorated at school. The school gave it to a pizza place so we could order a pizza from there and it would come in the box that I decorated! I loved the pizza and thought it was so cool that the box was personalized just for our pizza!

First Day of Kindergarten!

It's official! I am now a student at Jones Dairy Elementary School! Mommy and Daddy did an excellent job preparing me for my special day. When I woke up in the morning, I was so excited the first thing I said was, "Today I'm going to kindergarten!" Mommy made me whatever I wanted for breakfast and made my lunch. Then she took me to school and walked me to my classroom. I did her a favor and entered my classroom with a big smile on my face and proved that I am definitely ready for kindergarten! The day was nice, I met 2 girls and 2 boys that will be in my class. The next time that I go, my whole class will be there. During my day, we did some crafts, colored, went to the library where the librarian read us Pete the Cat, ate lunch in the cafeteria (my teacher helped me buy my milk), went outside for recess, had rest time, met the class pet (a guinea pig whose name I can't remember) and before I knew it, I went to the gym where I waited for Mommy to pick me up in carpool. I already know my teachers' names: Mrs. Manukas and Mrs. Taylor. They will help me to learn so much this year, I can't wait until I go back.
When we got home, Mommy and Adam had gone to the store to buy me a a special after school treat! We had popsicles! What a nice, refreshing treat after a long summer day at school! I've already proved to Mommy and Daddy that it's a big deal being a kindergartener. For dinner we had french toast; when Mommy went to pour my syrup I told her, "I can do that, I'm in kindergarten now!"

4th of July!

Sparklers and fireworks! This 4th of July was fun! For the first time in a while, we were home and got to see what happens around here! We got to see the Wake Forest fireworks on the 3rd! We set up a blanket and waited until it got dark. The lights went out and boom! Fireworks! Then, on the 4th we went furniture shopping…that wasn't the most exciting thing, but we celebrated that evening with a picnic on the porch followed by blueberry pie and sparklers! I loved the sparklers! After the sparklers we watched more fireworks on TV then had to go to bed. It was fun staying up late and celebrating our country!
There's nothing more American than a red Mustang! I still point out every one that I spot!
