Gliding Gal!

We had a great day beach trip over the weekend! The second we hit the beach I couldn't wait to get into the water. The waves were really big, but luckily the big ones would break far out and when they got closer they weren't as big and I could jump the waves, then swim in the water before it would ebb  into the ocean. Adam and I basically played in the surf all day long. Even as Mommy and Daddy started cleaning up our stuff, I stayed right in the water, savoring every moment. We went to a restaurant before driving home, but I had a super day at the beach.

I finally got to test out my new roller blades at the end of the weekend. Thankfully my experience ice skating and roller skating with Mommy really paid off. I feel pretty comfortable on my roller blades and each time I go out I get better and better. I'm not even intimidated by going down the driveway!

Young, Wild and 6!!!

I am one year older now (and I think I feel a bit taller too)!!!! I had an excellent 6th birthday! I didn't even mind having to go to school on my birthday because I got lots of special treatment there while wearing the birthday shirt that Grammie gave me to wear. In the morning Ms. Schlosser gave me a sticker to wear on my shirt for my birthday. Then, as I started to eat my lunch in the cafeteria, I felt a tapping on my back and it was Mommy surprising me! She and Adam came to eat lunch with me. We got to eat at the special tables by the windows. Then, for afternoon snack we had Oreo cookies for my birthday treat! My class sang to me and then we enjoyed eating cookies.
When I got home from the bus stop there was a huge box on the front porch with my name on it! We called Mimi and Papa and I opened the box with them. Inside was a big horse toy, one that I had wanted when we went to the store with them the last time they came to visit! I named the horse Apple and I love brushing her and putting my stuffed animals in the saddle to ride her! Daddy came home early from work for my birthday! We had the dinner I requested of baked beans and hot dogs, then after dinner we celebrated more with birthday cake and presents!  This year I asked for a zebra cake and I think Mommy did a great job making it (although I don't understand why the stripes were brown and not black). After dinner we saw Grammie and Gramps on the phone and I opened their presents. I got a giraffe figurine for my birthday train, a necklace with my birthstone, a treasure box that Grammie painted for me and dance lessons! I'm getting to go back to dance! I can't wait!
Although Adam spilled the beans by telling me about a few gifts that I got for my birthday, I played along and enjoyed all of my gifts. He even got me sunglasses for my birthday. I'm also really excited to use my laundry hamper, test out my new roller blades and practice telling time on my new watch. Before bed we saw Uncle Marcus, Aunt Tracie and Saige, and before dinner I talked to Uncle Mike. It is so nice that people want to talk to me on my birthday!
I had such a wonderful birthday talking to my family, opening presents, eating cake and feeling special! Wow! The only thing that would have made my birthday even more memorable is if I had lost my front tooth, but the tooth is still there...

Fun Run All Run Out!

Tonight we had mac n cheese for dinner. I liked it so much I had two huge helpings! I needed it after all the running I did at the Fun Run! I ran 54 laps! Each lap I completed, I got a bracelet and we got to keep all of them! Mommy was impressed with how well I ran, even when my shoes came untied and kids were falling all over the place.
We got a package from Grammie recently and along with all the goodies, she sent the banner from carnival week! One day after school we had fun making faces and laughing at all the pictures we took! In the evenings after all of my homework is done and we have had showers, we get to watch the  Rio Summer Olympics! Gymnastics and swimming are my favorite sports to watch! Daddy just told me today that I will be 10 years old the next time we see the summer Olympics again!

Swim Test Achievement

I passed the swim test! A few weeks ago I asked Mommy if I could go down the big slide (The Big Dipper) at the pool, but I wasn't tall enough to do it without passing the swim test. Over the next few weekends we practiced at the indoor pool swimming the length of the pool and treading water for a minute. Finally this weekend, a lifeguard tested me and I did it! I got a blue band to wear around my ankle and now I can go on the slide whenever I want! I had no worries on my first slide, and I kept going and going, at least 20 times on my first day! The best part was swooshing back and forth on the way down! I can't wait until we go back to the pool and I can do the slide again!
