10 Days!

I have started counting the days until I am officially a first grader! Now, it's just two short weeks and I'm done with kindergarten. Even though I've still got some days of school left, it's not stopping us from enjoying some fun activities. On Friday, the whole family picked me up early from school and we went strawberry picking!! I'm really good at picking because I know exactly what berries to pick. Then, later on in the weekend, we made ice cream with Daddy! It was so exciting!!!

When the Parents Are Away...

...kids and grandparents will play!! I couldn't wait until the bus ride home on Friday from school because when I got off, Grammie and Gramps were there to pick me up! That kicked off a weekend of nonstop activities. I would expect nothing less when Grammie is in charge. I had an excellent weekend; I didn't even notice that Mommy and Daddy weren't home. If I do say so, I am an excellent pie baker, I make a mean apple pie (with a little help from Grammie). There was so much to do, the weekend was over before I knew it!

A Mother's Day Treat

Even though Mother's Day is supposed to honor mothers, the whole family benefitted from how we celebrated this year. We went to see the Durham Bulls! It was so much fun at the game, as always. Even Cathy joined us for the night. And thankfully a player hit a home run so we got to see the bull's eyes light up. The best part about the whole thing is we got the home run ball. I didn't really understand how important that was, but I eventually will figure out it's pretty neat when you catch a ball at a ball game! I would say that I enjoyed celebrating Mommy today! She is the greatest!

Springtime Happenings

Silly Mommy! She made me short brown hair!

I definitely know it's spring. Between seeing baby birds out at the pond and talking about bugs, worms and dirt at school, spring is the season. We learned about Earth Day at school and the next day, Daddy took us to an Arbor Day festival where we picked up free seedlings, took a walk on the greenway to learn about trees and built a bird house with Daddy. There was even a Lorax walking around in a costume. I recognized the character immediately because the week of Dr Seuss's Birthday at school we read a bunch of his books. A week after we picked up seedlings at the Arbor Day festival, Mommy came to my school and planted seedlings with my class. I was so proud that my Mommy did that with my class.
