The other day we went to the mall to get new shoes for kindergarten. Mommy and Daddy couldn't decide if I should get shoes that I would have to tie. If they had known I was an expert at shoe tying, then it would have been a no brainer. They decided to buy the shoes with lace. After one tutorial session with Daddy in the evening, I was tying both of my shoes on my own by the following afternoon! Oh yeah, I'm great!

Aloha Pennsylvania! Aloha!
This summer trip's theme was Aloha! Everything was beachy Hawaiian! Decorated with leis and grass skirts we enjoyed some fun days at Grammie and Gramps' house! Thankfully, the weather wasn't hot and tropical like it is in North Carolina, so we were able to enjoy lots of outdoor activities! Up at the house, we had ice cream and movie night, made cupcakes, visited the library where I assembled a 100 piece puzzle, visited the East Branch Dam where we tried to fill the lake with rocks, walked over to Pfaff's market for treats, and went to our favorite park! At the park, I did the entire length of the monkey bars all by myself! I will keep having to practice that when I get home! It was fun at Grammie and Gramps' house and the fun continued at camp!
Luckily we had one full day without rain (except for a few drops at the end) so we could enjoy every second outside at camp. We played baseball, hula-hooped (which I worked hard to get a hang of), decorated stones, drove the side-by-side, had a picnic, fed carrots to my favorite horses, and hit a pinata that Grammie and Gramps made with lots of goodies in it. Adam and I had to hit it quite a few times to break it open, and Daddy took the last swing to get everything out of it! While Daddy and Mommy were out in the side-by-side they spotted some elk so they took us up the road where we saw some big elk!! We topped off our day at camp by releasing balloons (sky lanterns) into the sky! That was my favorite part! This trip was so much fun, I will have a hard time saying, "Aloha" when it's time to leave!June 21, 2015

The Magic of Swimming

I don't think Mommy and Daddy believe it, or thought it would happen, but I LOVE the water!!! I started my swim lessons this week and I go every day. That has helped me to understand how awesome swimming is! My instructor, Anna, has done a great job working with me during my lessons to teach me how to swim on my own. By Thursday, Mommy witnessed me doing just that. I walk deep enough in the pool to just where my head is coming out of the water, then kick my legs and scoop my hands for a couple of seconds! I think that counts as swimming!! Then, after watching other kids and lots of coaxing from Mommy, I figured out that jumping into the water is great fun too!! Along with Adam, and my friends if they are at the pool with me, we jump into the water over and over and over again. I love going to our pool too because I see all of my friends there and we can swim together. I swim with Molly, Maddie, and the other Cora. Luckily, the day that Cora came to swim with me she helped me get past my fear of the spray playground. I love that now too! I can't wait to continue my swim lessons and getting better at swimming! Mommy tells me that I get to go everyday this week too!June 7, 2015
Triple Delightful Weekend
I witnessed history this weekend! Mommy and Daddy let me watch horses racing and they explained to me that this particular race was very important. There was a horse named American Pharaoh that we were cheering on and the horse won the race. And by winning this race, the horse had won the Triple Crown of horse racing. I didn't really grasp what was happening, but I really enjoyed watching the horses and asking lots and lots of questions about what I was seeing. So that was the first of the three triple delights.
The second delight was after dinner, Mommy assembled all the ingredients needed to make s'mores! I had my first s'more and it was delicious. We were going to make our s'mores over the grill, but it ran out of gas so we went inside and melted our marshmallows over the stove. It worked just fine because I inhaled my s'more!
The last delight of the weekend was seeing baby duckies! On Saturday morning Daddy took me for a walk to the pond where we carefully waited and watched while a Mommy duck and her 10 ducklings swam around the pond and eventually came really close to us. I went back to see the ducks again with Adam and Mommy on Sunday and I showed them how to be quiet to get the duckies to come near us and they did!
I start swim lessons this week and I can't wait! I'll be swimming fast like those little duckies before I know it! And, by the way, Daddy lifted the training wheels on my bike last weekend and we were working this weekend on getting used to the bike tipping more. After a while, I started to get the hang of it! Before I know it I'll be swimming like a pro and biking on two wheels. It will just take lots and lots of practice!
