So far, I've had a nice break from school, mostly relaxing and spending time with Adam. We've had a couple of fun outings, such as a visit to the dump hill and a charity car show where I had my fill of Mustangs. A few days after school was over, Mimi and Papa came for a visit! As always, we enjoyed watching planes from the observation deck waiting for them to arrive. They arrived in the late afternoon so we didn't have much time on the evening. All we could fit in was dinner and a walk to the pond park. The next day though it was beautiful for swimming! We packed a picnic lunch and had lots of fun at the pool. I showed Mimi and Papa all of my newest skills going under and jumping into the water. Mimi even showed me a few strokes, like the breast stroke and the back stroke for swimming. So far the back stroke is my favorite.

The next day we went to a place we had never been called a planetarium at UNC Chapel Hill. We looked around a small museum for a while, then we went into the dome theater where we watched a movie about Earth Sun and Moon. It was cool watching the movie on the dome. After the movie we learned about constellations that we can see in the sky. After that, we went to see a science show called Science Matters. We learned about what matter is and during the presentation volunteers were needed. I got to volunteer twice! First, all the kids in the room helped describe the states of matter, solid, liquid and gas by how we moved around the room. Then, later on, I volunteered for an experiment where water was being turned to different states. I got all dressed up anticipating that I would have snow dumped on me, but it turns out, when the scientist added water to the salty substance and dumped it over my head, nothing happened. That was because the chemical she added water to was the stuff in diapers, so it just absorbed all the water instead of dumping out on my head! When that was over, we walked through the campus to see an art exhibit of these human size spinning tops. We took a spin for a while, then went to get lunch. It was a hot day and thankfully on the way to lunch we found a piece of art that had misters on it so we could cool off. After we got home later in the afternoon, we played lots and lots of board games that continued into the next day. I perfected my game of Go Fish and enjoyed spending time with Mimi and Papa.

Mimi shared with me a special book that she used to read to her students called "Goonie Bird Greene." We read it together when we were in the car driving to Chapel Hill and a bit at home; we practically finished it. I enjoyed reading with Mimi - I wish we could have finished it, but thankfully Mom finished it with me just two days after Mimi and Papa left. We had a great visit with them - such a fun way to spend track out. Next up, our trip to Pennsylvania!!
